Overview:

Enjoy breathtaking views over the Jordan Valley, flat desert sands, majestic limestone mountains, and a long downhill to the Red Sea as you cycle past Petra, Wadi Rum, and Shobak Crusader Castle.

Day 1 – Arrival

 

Collection from the airport and transfer to your hotel. Depending upon your flight arrival time, we can offer additional activities for the day.

Overnight in Amman.

 

Day 2 – Amman City Tour, Kerak Castle, Dana

 

Explore the historical side of the capital city, starting with the Citadel, where in the Old Testament King David arranged to have his lover’s husband murdered, and then visit the Roman Amphitheater in the old downtown. Afterwards, head south to the ancient crusader castle in Karak, exploring the maze of stone-vaulted halls and passageways. The city of Kerak was the capital of Moab and was also used by the Greeks and Romans. Lastly, drive to Dana to enjoy one of most dramatic and diverse landscapes in the whole region.

Day 3  Cycle Dana to Shobak

 

Starting from the 500-year-old village of Dana, descend on dirt tracks before ascending through the desert along ancient towns with stone remains to a finish at the Crusader castle in Shobak.

 

Distance: 28Km, Ascent: 788m, Descent: 739m

 

Overnight in Shobak.

 

Day 4 – Cycle Shobak to Petra

 

Start from the crusader castle in Shobak and cycle mostly off road with views throughout the day over the Jordan Valley until finishing at the rose-red city of Petra.

 

Distance: 48Km, Ascent: 1278m, Descent: 1712m

Day 5 – Free Day exploring Petra

 

Free day to enter the city through 1KM long narrow gorge called the Siq, which is flanked either side by 80m high cliffs! Notice the dazzling colors and formations of the rocks. The site is massive, and contains hundreds of elaborated rock-cut tombs, a treasury, Roman-style theatres, temples, sacrificial altars and colonnaded streets. More time to visit other trails and sites inside Petra, such as the High Place of Sacrifice, the monastery, etc.

Day 6 – Cycle Petra to Wadi Rum

 

After Petra, transfer up just past the small town of Al Rajif to a place where the road hits trail and the best riding starts. From here enjoy the remarkable views over the Jordan Valley as you cycle along the cliffside. Then get a true taste of the quintessential middle-eastern desert landscape as you cycle through isolated desert on caravan tracks before reaching the Desert Highway and getting a transfer to Wadi Rum (if desired).

 

Distance: 49Km, Ascent: 634m, Descent: 1303m

Day 7 – Aqaba Boat Ride & BBQ – Madaba

 

After waking up to the sunrise and a simple breakfast in the desert, you’ll head to Aqaba, Jordan’s only port with access to the Red Sea. Enjoy a boat ride on a glass bottom boat, enjoying views of the coral, and also views across Jordan, Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Time to swim and snorkel from the boat, over coral and view the fantastic range of tropical fish. Lunch included on the boat. You will then head north to the Christian town of Madaba where you will have some time to relax and freshen up. Later on that night enjoy dinner at the famed Haret Jdouna restaurant, situated in a historic building in the heart of Madaba.

Day 8 Departure

 

Morning pick-up from your hotel after breakfast and transfer to Queen Alia Airport for departure with flight (TBC).

Dates:

All our tours are private tours, so we run them whenever you want.  Just tell us the time and date you want to start.

 

Bikes:

We are glad to provide bikes for your trip! Our mountain bikes have lightweight alloy frames, 27-speed gearing, disc brakes and front suspension.

 

You are also welcome to bring your own beloved bike. If you do bring your bike for this trip, please make sure it is a mountain bike, preferable with front suspension, and  in good mechanical order.

 

All our trips are accompanied by a mechanic and support vehicle.

 

Meals:

FB: Starting with dinner on first day, to breakfast on last day.

Breakfast and dinner in hotels are buffet meals. Lunch is a pack lunch.

 

Transportation:

All tours are run in private, air-conditioned vehicles, with excellent drivers. Plus a support Vehicle during the cycling to support the cyclists for bike maintenance and in case of injuries and rest breaks.

 

Accommodation:

Accommodation is based on 3-star hotels and 5-star Bedouin hospitality in Wadi Rum in traditional Bedouin tents or under the stars.

 

Guides:

We have English Speaking, Government-Licensed Tour guides and Cycling Guides available for all our tours. Also we can provide other languages speaking guides upon request.

Cost includes:

  • Collection from the airport or Allenby Bridge.
  • Return transfer to the airport or Allenby Bridge.
  • Entrance fees for all sites.
  • Transport by experienced driver in air-conditioned vehicle.
  • Support vehicle to transport bikes with mechanic throughout trip.
  • 6 nights hotel accommodation in a twin share room. (Single supplement applies if you want a single room).
  • 1 night in a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum.
  • FB: Starting with dinner on first day, to breakfast on last day.
  • Government Licensed English speaking tour guide on days of sightseeing.
  • Porterage at hotels.

Cost excludes:

  • Bicycles. Assumes customers are bringing own bikes and spares. The mechanic will assist with any repairs, and supplies can be purchased from mechanic if required.
  • Visa fee to Jordan.
  • Departure taxes ($15 pp at land borders).  Airport tax is usually included on air-tickets. Taxes subject to change with no notice.
  • Personal items and drinks with meals.
  • Tips to driver & guide, hotels staff and porters.

Hotel Upgrades
You can upgrade your hotel to a 4 or 5-star hotel for the  nights in the hotels.
