Itinerary

Welcome to Jordan!

Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport. Your driver will be waiting for you at the arrivals lobby to transfer you to your hotel.

Overnight in Amman.

Driving time:
QAIA to Amman – Approx. 30 minutes.

Morning pick up from Amman and drive north to walk through history in Jerash, regarded as one of the most important and best preserved Roman cities in the Middle East.

Later on this day, proceed further north to Umm Qais and go straight to Beit Al Baraka, a local community project that aims to spread the word about their hometown. Here you will enjoy a traditional homemade meal.

After lunch, we will wander around Umm Qais, the Greek and Roman city overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Sea of Galilee. Besides being a beautiful site, this particular site boasts a deep history as one of the Decapolis cities. It’s famous for being the site of the miracle of the Gadarene Swine. It is also famous for the many classical poets and philosophers that call Umm Qais home. One such poet called this city a “new Athens.”

Explore the town of Madaba and discover the amazing Byzantine mosaics excavated from throughout the town.

Mount Nebo to Little Petra – Approx. 3 hours

After breakfast it’s time to start your hike. Enter Petra via ‘The Back Door’ avoiding most of the tourists. Good tracks go pleasantly down Wadi Ghurab amidst sandstone mountains guarding the approaches to Petra. This way follows a Nabataean route out of the valley and skirting round the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ for the safety of walkers. Even so, it still narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh.

Just beyond, carved into the cliff face, ‘The Monastery’ suddenly comes into view, where there is a Bedouin café for refreshments if you would like. Nabataean steps then lead down into ancient Petra; your route then takes you through Um Saihoon Village and from there we go to your accommodation in Petra.

Overnight in Petra.

Today we will revisit Petra the traditional way.

A Masterpiece half as old as time; The Red Rose city of Petra. Marvel at the beauty of the ‘Lost City’, exploring its many caves and tombs. Walk through the Siq and be astounded at the magnificent Treasury, the entrance guarding the ancient Nabatean city, now one of the Modern 7 Wonders of the World. Time to then explore the city further, such as Qasr Al-Bint or the Royal Tombs.

Overnight in Petra.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Wadi Rum. Once you arrive, you will hop on a Jeep to the foot of Jabal Al Hash.

Jabal Al Hash is located in the Al Forah area, close to where the Jordanian border intersects the Saudi Arabian border.

Start out hiking through an interesting rocky valley with some scattered vegetation and over easy rocky slabs as our route winds and turns to the plateau beneath the highest rocky piles of this massive mountain. Over there, you will enjoy a 360 degree extending across the desert landscape. We then start descending towards the west through another rocky valley to complete the trip around mountain.

You will continue your desert adventure with a Jeep tour exploring this World Heritage Site, traveling around Wadi Rum’s valleys, canyons, dunes and deserts, discover rock inscriptions, majestic views of mountains and landscapes and narrow gorges. At each stop you have the opportunity to hike and scramble and explore in your own time. You enjoy a simple lunch cooked in the desert in the shade of the mountains.
