Experience Jordan Adventures 2024 training workshops
Empowering local communities and local guides is essential to progress adventure travel & tourism, that’s why in 2024, Experience Jordan Adventures presented four major training workshops:
Guiding Techniques and Ethics at Feynan
In February, we had the pleasure of organizing a 3-day training at the stunning Feynan Ecolodge. We had the opportunity to equip their local guides with the know-how to deliver exceptional visitor experiences while promoting environmental conservation and cultural respect, the non-traditional tourism style, also known as alternative tourism.
It is always rewarding to work with Feynan Eco lodge and help improve the skills of their guides. Feynan is a great example of community-based and sustainable tourism in Jordan. Again, we are proud to partner with organizations that share our values.
A big ‘thank you’ to the fantastic instructor, Abdallah Hijazi, for sharing his knowledge and expertise with the guides at Feynan. This training was delivered under Youth-Jo: Level Up! a Partners for Good project, funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Jordan, mandated to enhance the economic participation of youth through upskilling, job placement, and fostering entrepreneurship.
First Aid Training at Toledo
In August, we proudly arranged a 3-day advanced First Aid training course for our dedicated staff, guides, and Bedouin crew. This training was organized as part of our ongoing safety management system in collaboration with the Jordanian Civil Defense and Partners for Good.
Safety isn’t just a requirement; it is our number one priority. In our commitment to safety first, we are dedicated to ensuring our team and others are equipped with the essential skills & awareness to handle emergencies confidently, initial treatment and prevention, ensuring the safety of themselves, our guests, workplace safety, and the community on every adventure.
Bike Mechanic Workshop at Warehouse
In November, our two-day training session and bike maintenance workshop was a great success! Designed by Anton, our experienced cycling team manager yet led by Nader Zakibeh, the head coach of Jordan’s national cycling team, the workshop brought together 10 passionate guides and cycling crew members.
We were incredibly excited to have two female guides who are on their way to becoming the country’s first female cycling guides and bike mechanics, which is a significant milestone for adventure tourism in Jordan.
Guide Safety Management at Office
In December, instead of a normal annual guide’s gathering, we prepared a safety management training for guides and office staff. Demonstrated by Abed El Rahman our operations manager.
Travel experts recommend that tourists join guided tours when exploring Jordan, as those offer the ability to fully immerse oneself in the rich history and culture while accounting for things like safety & security, therefore we are aiming to make it an ideal trip when they visit Jordan, now or in the future.
It is crucial to identify and manage hazards effectively by assessing potential risks. Guides must be informed about and understand emergency measures to respond swiftly in critical situations. Adhering to established operating procedures to maintain safety and consistency throughout the trip.
Additionally, developing and implementing a contingency plan ensures that all are prepared for unexpected disruptions; by carefully evaluating risk factors, considering the probability of incidents, and understanding their potential impact, teaching them to reduce risks proactively and safeguard humans, animals, nature and assets.
