Itinerary

Welcome to Jordan! Take some time to arrive, check into your hotel room, and have a first experience of the delightful Jordanian cuisine. Depending on when your flight arrived, you will even have some time to explore Amman by yourself.

Amman is Jordan’s capital, and one of the oldest cities in the world. Inhabited since the Bronze Age, the city has grown into a modern city with all that you might expect. Despite this amazing growth, Amman has retained its character and traditions, and the culture of hospitality and generosity is still very present across the city.

Overnight: Hotel in Amman

Meet your guide at 8 am and transfer south to Shobak. Our cycling adventure starts from nearby Shobak castle, the first of the series of Crusader Castles built in Jordan; get a chance to take some panoramic photos before we take off. We start with a familiarization ride as we cycle for a short bit on road to get to our local host house for a delicious lunch. Some time to relax and we carry on biking off-road on a mixture of dirt tracks and roads to Little Petra. This stage of Jordan Bike Trail is stated as one of the most epic ones. The route contours around the mountains of Dana and Petra with great views across the Jordan valley. We finish the ride with a visit to Little Petra. Then cycle to your overnight camp
hidden in the rocks and enjoy the hospitality of the Bedouins.

Cycling Info: 50 km; +1,150m; – 1,570; 30% off-road.

Overnight: Bedouin Camp near Little Petra

After breakfast it’s time to start your hike. Enter Petra via ‘The Back Door’ avoiding most of the tourists. Good tracks go pleasantly down Wadi Ghurab amidst sandstone mountains guarding the approaches to Petra. This way follows a Nabataean route out of the valley and skirting round the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ for the safety of walkers. Even so, it still narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. Just beyond, carved into the cliff face, ‘The Monastery’ suddenly comes into view, where there is a Bedouin café for refreshments if you would like. Nabataean steps then lead down into ancient Petra; through which the route goes before exiting past ‘The Treasury’ and though the famous ‘Petra Siq’ to the shops, cafés and hotels of Wadi Musa. Then take a short transfer back to Little Petra for the second night on your stay.

Hiking Distance: 14Km to 16KM

Overnight: Bedouin Camp near Little Petra

After breakfast, we take appx 40 mins transfer out of Wadi Musa following the Kings Way. Starting at appx 1600m our trail winds down a pleasant descent to the village of Toghra where the pavement meets the dirt. As we’re getting more and more south you’ll notice the trail flattens as we approach Wadi Rum. Stop for a cup of tea at a local Bedouin family en route to learn more about the culture. After a short break, we’ll continue cycling to Wadi Rum across some sandy segments and mud flats. Once the ride is over, jump on jeep for a transfer through the desert to our overnight location.

Cycling Info: 70 Km; +500m; -1350m; 50% off-road.

Overnight: Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum

A jeep transfer out of our camp and then we will spend couple of hours cycling on the desert mud flats around Wadi Rum. Later on, take around 4 hours jeep safari, exploring this World Heritage Site, traveling around Wadi Rum’s valleys, canyons, dunes and deserts, discover rock inscriptions, majestic views of mountains and landscapes and narrow gorges. At each stop you have the opportunity to hike and scramble and explore in your own time. You enjoy a simple lunch cooked in the desert in the shade of the mountains. In the evening, return back to your camp for another night.

Cycling Info: 37 Km; +150m; -400m; 48% off-road.

Overnight: Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum

Cycle between the sandstone mountains on the desert sands all the way through the largest Wadi in Jordan. Once arrived to the Village of Titen, we join the tarmac and bike all the way to Desert Highway, where we take a short transfer to Aqaba, Jordan’s window to the Red Sea. Aqaba brings a refreshing variation to the sands of Wadi Rum and Petra. While in Aqaba, you’ll get a day pass to one of the resorts to spend your well-deserved time by the Red Sea.

Cycling Info: 41Km; +140m; -680m; 65% off-road.

Overnight: Hotel in Aqaba.

After breakfast, head towards the Dead Sea where you will spend the day floating and relaxing at one of the resorts.

Enjoy the sunshine at the lowest point on earth, whilst trying out the invigorating mud bath to cleanse the skin or maybe get a spa treatment. Watch the sunset over the hills of the West Bank with Jerusalem in the distance.

Transfer to Amman for the overnight.

Overnight: Hotel in Amman

The drive from Aqaba to the Dead Sea is around 4 hours.

The drive from the Dead Sea to Amman takes around 1 Hour.

Sadly, all great things must come to an end. For those flying out already, it is generally recommended to leave Amman at least 4 hours prior to your departure. We wish you a safe flight, and hope you will return back home with many wonderful memories of your time in Jordan!
