Hike the Ayoun section of the Jordan Trail in Jordan starting & ending in Amman.
This tour can be taken as a stand alone trip, or as a bolt on to one of our other Jordan sightseeing tours.

Day 1 – Arrival
Collection from the airport and transfer direct to your hotel. Depending upon your flight arrival time, we can offer additional activities for the day, such as an Amman City Tour or trip to the Royal Automobile Museum. Overnight in Amman.
Day 2 – Ajloun Castle to Orjan – 12.2 Km, 4 hours.
8am collection from Amman, and transfer to Ajloun Castle where we start our walking experience. We begin with an exploration of the Castle built by one of Saladdin’s generals in 1184. From there we head north along footpaths and tracks amongst vineyards & fields to the village of Baoun. Along the way we visit the site of Mar Elias (know as Tishbe in the Bible) the home town of the Prophet Elijah, and the nearby remains of the Listeb Mosque. We end at the village of Orjan. Overnight in homestay with local family in Orjan.
Day 3 – Orjan to Wadi Zubia – 14.8 Km, 6 hours.
From the village of Orjan, we walk along the fertile wadi with its lush vegetation & gardens through the village of Rasoun. We head out of the village of Rasoun on dirt tracks past Olive groves & up steeply to the top of the ridge. From here we can see caves in the cliff sides and nice views back to the Ayoun villages. We continue to the Qabla ruins where we can see remains of houses, caves and quarries. We head west down the forested Wadi Zubia passing a cave spring and more ruins at Us Us. Overnight back in Orjan with local families
Day 4 – Wadi Zubia to Pella – 15 Km, 6 hours.
We follow the fence of the Kings Hunting Lodge at Birgesh en route to the village of Beit Idis. Leaving Beit Idis, pass the Jesus Cave & Beit Idis Church down Wadi Seir to the ruins of Pella. We explore the Roman ruins of Pella, a city that has been continually occupied since Neolithic times. Overnight in Pella.
Day 5 – Pella to Wadi Ziglab – 12.8 Km, 5 hours.
Today is a nice walk with gently undulating countryside along the Jordan Valley. We walk past lush agricultural fields to the Sharhabil Bin Hasnah Ecopark (SHE) run by Friends of the Earth Middle East. Up from the park is the Ziglab dam; there is a gentle walk round the reservoir. Overnight in Sharhabil Bin Hasnah Ecopark (subject to availability) or back in Pella.
Day 6 – Um Qais to Arab Dam – 8 Km, 4 hours + 1 hour at Um Qais.
Drive north to the ancient Decapolis town of Um Qais, and visit the ruins of this old Roman city, overlooking northern Israel Palestine and the Sea of Galilee.
Walk down from Um Qais, passing the Um Qais spring, to Tel Ziraa’ overlooking the Arab Dam. Return to the Ecopark / Pella, and then back to Amman. Overnight in Amman.
Day 7 – Depart.
Free day and transfer to airport. Depending upon the time of your flight, we can arrange optional tours such as Amman City Tour, or Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where Jesus was baptized.
If you want extra sightseeing, you can combine this tour, with one of our other Jordan tours, such as the Flash Jordan tour, or just add 1 or 2 days, such as Petra and the Dead Sea.
All our tours are private tours, so we run then whenever you want. Just tell us the time and date you want to start. The best time to hike is from September through May, as the summer is very hot.
All meals from dinner on day 1, to breakfast on day 7. Breakfast and dinner in hotels are buffet meals.
Lunch is a pack lunch with 3 litres of water provided per person per day.
All tours are run in private, air-conditioned vehicles, with excellent drivers starting and ending in Amman. Some short local transfers will be in a open back 4×4 vehicle. Luggage transfer is included.
Accommodations in a variety of forms: local family stays; country hotels or eco-lodges (subject to availability).
We provide local path guide for the 5 days hiking. They are not nationally licenced tour guides, but gentlemen who have lived all their lives in the north of Jordan, and will share this homes, lives and stories with you..
